Olubayo Adefemi killed in car accident




Nigeria international player Olubayo Adefemi died in a car accident at age 25.


Adefemi played for Skoda Xanthi Greek in the Champions League and has won three caps for his country.


Adefemi had been driving from Thessaloniki to Xanthi on the Egnatia Highway, when he lost control of his car. He went to the airport for a flight to Nigeria, where he was finalizing plans for their wedding.


A statement from the Greek football federation as follows: "The Champions League and the Greek football family wishes to express its deepest sympathy and condolences to the family of Olubayo Adefemi, who died tragically in a car accident."


Condolences came from teams whose Aris, Panionios and Adefemi Ergotelis, who won a silver medal as part of the Nigerian side that participated in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
