Final Champion League Manchester United vs Barcelona 5/28/11

Manchester United FC secured a Wembley date with FC Barcelona on 28 May, their fifth appearance in European football's showpiece game, with a comprehensive victory against FC Schalke 04.

Manchester United coasted through to a Champions League final meeting with Barcelona after dismantling Schalke 4-1 at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening.

Antonio Valencia opened the scoring in the 26th minute before Darron Gibson doubled the home side's lead just past the half-hour mark.

Antonio Valencia and Darron Gibson scored inside the opening third to turn Schalke's already herculean task into a mission impossible. Although José Manuel Jurado replied before the break, Anderson's second-half double sealed a 6-1 aggregate triumph and Sir Alex Ferguson can now start devising a plan to avenge United's 2009 UEFA Champions League final loss to Barcelona.

Jose Manuel Jurado's fierce effort gave the travelling contingent hope in the 35th minute but United grabbed their third when Anderson netted in the second half. The Brazilian scored his second of the game in the 76th minute to round off a convincing semi-final win.
